General questions
We provide four distinct levels of editing, each addressing different aspects of your manuscript. Developmental editing focuses on big-picture elements such as plot structure, character development, pacing, and thematic consistency. Line editing refines your prose at the sentence level, improving clarity, rhythm, and style while preserving your unique voice. Copy-editing corrects grammar, spelling, punctuation, and factual inconsistencies. Finally, proofreading is the last quality check before publication, catching any remaining typographical errors.
Most authors benefit from starting with a developmental edit and then moving to copy-editing once revisions are complete. We are happy to advise on the right sequence during your free discovery call.
Timelines depend on the service, the length of your manuscript, and the current state of the text. As a general guide, a developmental edit for a full-length novel (80,000–100,000 words) typically takes four to six weeks. Copy-editing the same length manuscript usually requires two to three weeks, and proofreading can often be completed in one to two weeks.
Publishing consultation projects vary widely depending on complexity. A straightforward self-publishing setup might be wrapped up in three to four weeks, while a full marketing campaign could run for several months. We always agree on milestones and deadlines before work begins.
Absolutely. A significant portion of our clients are debut authors. We understand that the publishing process can feel daunting when you are navigating it for the first time, and we have designed our services to be transparent and supportive. Your dedicated project manager will explain every step in plain language, answer questions promptly, and help you make informed decisions about editing, design, and distribution.
We also offer a free introductory guide for first-time authors that covers the essentials of manuscript preparation, query letters, and self-publishing logistics.
Yes. We have extensive experience with Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP), IngramSpark, Apple Books, Kobo, and several other platforms. Our publishing guidance service covers account setup, interior formatting for both print and e-book, cover specifications, metadata optimisation (categories, keywords, and descriptions), and pricing strategy.
We can also advise on whether wide distribution or Amazon exclusivity through KDP Select is the better fit for your genre and goals. Many of our clients see improved discoverability within weeks of launching with our optimised listings.
Our editorial team covers a broad range of genres including literary fiction, commercial fiction (romance, thriller, science fiction, fantasy, historical), memoir, biography, self-help, business, academic texts, and children's literature. Each editor on our roster has specific genre expertise, and we match your manuscript with the editor whose background best aligns with your subject matter and style.
If your project falls outside the genres listed above, please get in touch — we may still be able to help or can recommend a trusted colleague.
We take confidentiality seriously. Before any work begins, we sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) that legally protects your manuscript and all related materials. Files are stored on encrypted, access-controlled servers, and only the team members assigned to your project have access to your documents.
Your intellectual property remains yours at all times. We never claim ownership of, or rights to, any content you share with us. Once the project is complete and payment is finalised, we delete your files from our systems within 30 days unless you request otherwise.
Our marketing packages are tailored to each author's needs and budget. A typical campaign includes audience research, social media content planning and scheduling, email list building and newsletter design, press release writing and distribution, blog tour coordination, and Amazon advertising setup and management.
We also offer author branding services, including website creation, author bio writing, and professional headshot direction. For authors pursuing traditional publishing, we can assist with query letters, synopses, and submission tracking.

Process and logistics
Everything starts with a free 30-minute discovery call. During this conversation, we learn about your manuscript, your goals, and your timeline. After the call, we send a detailed proposal outlining the recommended services, estimated timeline, and pricing. Once you approve the proposal and sign the service agreement, we assign your project manager and schedule the work.
Throughout the project, you receive regular progress updates and have direct access to your editor or consultant via email and video call.
We accept manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.docx), Google Docs, and rich-text format (.rtf). For formatting and design projects, we can also work with InDesign files, PDFs, and ePub files. If your manuscript is in a different format, let us know and we will do our best to accommodate it.
Yes. Every editing package includes one round of follow-up queries after delivery. If you have questions about specific suggestions, need clarification on feedback, or want the editor to review a revised section, this is included at no extra charge. Additional revision rounds can be arranged at a discounted rate for existing clients.
